President Joe Biden gave an awful press conference after his diminished memory was exposed in the Classified Documents Report. Special Counsel Robert Hur recommended against charges for the President over willfully retaining classified documents at his home from his time as Vice President. Such an act does constitute a crime, but Hur concluded that it would not be in the best interest of justice to do so.
There are many reasons why Biden was not charged, but two main issues stand out. The first is an unwritten rule stating that sitting Presidents aren’t charged with crimes. Another problem, pointed out specifically by Hur, is that Biden is a “well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.” Biden took offense to this and may have attempted to prove him wrong with a rare press conference. The result was the total opposite of what Biden may have expected.
