Clay Travis, the founder of Outkick and a conservative pundit, appeared on a live panel at the University of Chicago to speak about the current state of the Democratic Party. At one point during the conversation, they spoke about how young men have turned away from Democrats although they are not necessarily more conservative than their fathers and grandfathers. A growing share of young liberals and moderates are beginning to vote Republican. Much of this exodus from left to right politically has been spurred on by President Trump.
Travis gained audible gasps and laughter from the crowd when he spoke about the lack of masculinity in the party. He started this part of the talk by asking who the masculine figures were in the Democratic Party. He brought up “Mayor” Pete Buttigieg and Chuck Schumer as examples of men in the party who the majority of America do not see as masculine at all. The infamous picture of Schumer on the grill with sad looking hamburgers is the exact type of thing that repels young men away from the party. There isn’t anyone who is attractive to young men in terms of being capable of actual leadership.
