Luckily, none of those resulted in a tragedy unlike what happened recently over the Potomac River near DCA airport in Arlington, Virginia. Some aviation experts say that the system is outdated and is in desperate need of modernization to prevent near misses and outright crashes. There are those who say diversity efforts are partially to blame here. This assertion could be true if said efforts get in the way of the actual needed progress of updating outdated systems.
