Driverless cars have become a menace in San Francisco, causing severe traffic jams and wrecks. These cars are notorious for completely coming to a halt in front of emergency vehicles. When a vehicle just stops in the middle of the road, there will, of course, be serious traffic jams as a result. Accidents could also happen. Autonomous vehicles see the flashing lights from, let’s say a firetruck for example, and they decide to just stop directly in front of the truck and flash their own lights. There have also been reports of these cars interfering with firetruck hoses. This is a clear software problem that has not been fixed by the major companies that use San Francisco as a testing ground for driverless cars, specifically Google (Waymo) and Cruise.
