The Wall Street Journal released a study that says Generation-Z are showing less interest in college and are instead enrolling more in schools for skilled trade. WSJ has dubbed this group of young people as the “Toolbelt Generation.” Interest and enrollment into electrician and HVAC programs has doubled among Americans aged 20-24 over the past 10 years. This news comes amid persistent messaging of lazy, unskilled, and uneducated Americans not being suitable enough to work jobs in the United States. The migrant crisis and H-1B Visa program abuses are justified due to the perceived “lack” of American workers, a notion that Gen-Z is trying to put to bed.
