Jasmine Crockett, the Democratic House Rep from Texas, says that Democratic Party donors want a “safe white boy” to run for President in 2028. Crockett made the controversial remarks on a Sirius XM Satellite Radio show. A clip from that show was uploaded on Friday and has gone somewhat viral. Many social media users have commented that her remarks where racist while others say that she is not incorrect. Most conventional wisdom would say that she’s correct in the fact that Democrats want a white male to run in 2028, specifically Gavin Newsom.
Any betting man would put their money on Newsom becoming the 2028 Democratic Party Presidential nominee over anyone else. If a non-white person is to get the nod then it is difficult to point to anyone currently in the party. Kamala Harris (although she’s not actually black) ran for President twice and failed drastically both times, including when she actually became the “nominee” in 2024. Cory Booker ran in 2020 with similar results to Kamala. Michelle Obama probably has the best chance out of all non-whites and women on the Democratic side, but she’d rather do podcasts with her brother than be involved with the political world. If the Democrats are smart, they would run Gavin up against JD Vance, Marco Rubio, Byron Donalds, or whoever the Republican side ultimately selects to be their candidate.
