Karoline Leavitt Addresses Amazon Over Plan To List Tariff Costs On Website

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt blasted Amazon over news that they plan to list tariff prices on their website. Leavitt commented on a report published by Punchbowl News about Amazon listing the cost of tariffs next to original prices. Amazon released a statement after Leavitt made her comments, denying the allegations. An article published by Reuters says that Amazon did not implement such a thing and there was never a plan for the main website to have that feature. However, they did admit that the idea was raised by the ultra-low cost Amazon Haul service, but the plan never actually went through.

President Donald Trump’s “trade war” with China has intensified with tariffs that some retailers say will hurt their business due to increased prices on the American consumer. General critics of the reported move typically feel the same way as retailers. Supporters of the tariffs say that any increase in prices are necessary for the overall good of the citizens of the United States.
