NYC Mayor Eric Adams has ended the controversial migrant debit card program just one day after Trump’s reelection. New Jersey-based tech startup Mobility Capital Finance doled out a grand total of $2.4 million in preloaded Mastercards to 2,600 migrant families.
The idea behind the debit card program was to save taxpayers money from reducing food waste and other ancillary fees by giving migrant families of four up to $350 per week on food. Much of the sustenance food available in shelters was undesirable for the migrants, although homeless United States citizens are given that food. Reports of outrageous card balances of beyond $10,000 in the NYC area were reported under this program.
NYC citizens and other Americans were outraged at the migrant funding program, especially in the wake of Hurricane Helene. American citizens in western North Carolina were given the opportunity to apply for a one-time payment of $750 after losing everything including their homes, family members, and their jobs. Many WNC residents report getting automatically denied for the $750 due to a computer algorithm. Yet, the so-called migrants are put up in five star hotels and given exquisite “culturally sensitive” foods on the taxpayer’s dime.
NYC Mayor Eric Adams says the contract was only for one year and now the contract is up. It was probably not renewed because everyone knows that a Trump victory means a secure border, therefore the migrant crisis will wind down to a halt.
