Over 2,000 Starbucks employees have gone on strike to protest the company’s newly-implemented dress code. Starbucks had a much more lenient dress code before the new changes as employees could wear nearly anything that they wanted. Now, there is a focus on more uniformity. Employees are required to wear black shirts and basic colors of pants like khaki, navy, and black. There have been quite a few videos on social media showing disgruntled employees complaining about the changes. The employees, mostly part of a Union, say that Starbucks made the changes without consulting the workers which, according to them, is illegal. Representatives from Starbucks say that the Union should place as much effort coming to the negotiation table as they spend trying to protest wearing black shirts at work.
