President Donald Trump’s administration is offering $1,000 cash and free flights to illegal aliens who chose to self deport. The process would be handled in the CBP Home App, which is a repurposed version of the CBP ONE app that the Biden administration used to flood the country with migrants.
Team Trump says that the process of having to go find someone, arrest them, and then deport them costs about $17,000 per person. The plan of self-deport with a free flight and $1,000 stipend paid directly to the migrant costs $4,500. The cost of Trump’s plan costs 70% less than arresting and deporting.
Leftist critics on MSNBC ask where the money comes from to do this, which is a rhetorical question at best. DOGE has already saved the US taxpayer over $150 billion per year. And if the self-deport option costs 70% less than forceful deportation, then that is a cash-saver in itself.
