US House Rep Lamonica McIver (D – New Jersey) has been charged with assaulting an ICE agent after an incident at a Newark ICE facility earlier this month. McIver says she was simply practicing her right to inspect Federal detention centers for immigrants. However, the incident in question doesn’t quite relate to inspection or oversight. McIver, who’s districts cover Newark, Orange, and Jersey City, was captured on camera assaulting ICE agents after Newark Mayor Ras Baraka was arrested for trespassing at the ICE facility.
