A Waymo driverless taxi pulled itself over for police over a robbery suspect passenger. The suspect allegedly committed a robbery and attempted to flee in the Waymo. When police flashed sirens and approached the car, the vehicle’s software automatically triggered it to pull over. The suspect was apprehended after the car voluntarily pulled itself over. Some say this is a good thing as a human driver would have had to pull over just the same as the fully autonomous Waymo did. Others say this is a bad precedent because it restricts the freedom of the driver. There is also the issue of things that a computer cannot really program for or solve for that a physical driver can, such as snap reactions to road conditions and random street violence.
