White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt revealed that she was given updated information about the New Jersey drone sightings from late last year. The initial story was that nobody really knew who the drones belonged to or who was flying them but that there was nothing to worry about. Some reports initially tried to completely disregard the existence of the drones, which was an impossible thing to do. These drones were often big as vehicles in the sky and they would hover over people’s homes. People were able to take pictures of them. Police officers got on television and testified that they saw the drones.
The Government attempted to play ignorant about the situation, possibly due to a national security issue. Now, the Trump Administration has been able to disclose that the FAA cleared all of the drones in the sky. This upends an earlier statement which stated the FAA, among other agencies, did not know who was flying the drones. How is it possible for the FAA to be unaware of who was flying them if they cleared all of them to fly? Karoline Leavitt wasn’t crystal clear with the reason these drones were in the sky, though. Team Trump as stated that they will provide local leadership with more information about the incident.
