The “Proud Family” Disney reboot is facing some controversy over a few “woke” clips from the show that have gone viral. The original version of The Proud Family debuted back in 2001 and had a four-year run. It is a black-centered show featuring a family with parents, children, grandparents, friends, and more.
Since it has always been a Disney Channel production, the show is obviously for children and families. Many people enjoyed its original iteration. However, the new version of The Proud Family has taken a sharp turn in the subject matter. Rather than funny, family-friendly tropes, they have “leaned into” more “woke” subjects that anyone can find from a day’s worth of leftist accounts on Twitter. Topics that range from the legacy of slavery in the United States all the way to a negative viewpoint on interracial dating were discussed.
