The founder of Cash App, 43-year-old Bob Lee, was fatally stabbed in San Francisco at about 2:30 am on Tuesday morning. He was apparently walking in the well-to-do Rincon Hill neighborhood when the incident happened. Lee suffered two stab wounds to the chest. He attempted to seek help from people in a parked car with their hazard lights flashing, but they refused. Surveillance footage shows Lee collapsing to the ground after the vehicle drove off. Police arrived at the scene in under six minutes after a frantic phone call from Lee. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Bob Lee was a very well-respected executive in the Big Tech space. Jack Dorsey, the former CEO of Twitter, worked closely with Lee on Cash App and the payment processor Square. Lee recently fled from San Francisco back to Miami because, in his words, the city was “deteriorating.” Lee was in town for a conference and he decided to stay a few extra days to visit family and friends. He left behind a wife and two daughters.
