Such prices would not have been considered “value” just a few years ago, but they are in the rapidly increasing inflation era of 2024. A Spicy Deluxe McChicken with a small fry and no drink could run you $9 at the fast-food giant today.
McDonald’s has not yet confirmed this “rumor,” but they have said that prices are controlled by individual franchise locations. This response may be valid but not totally accurate. Different locations do not typically have wildly different prices, and there may be a company-wide promotion if the price point makes sense. Other fast-food restaurants, including Wendy’s, already have $5 value menus that include similar options to what McDonald’s is rumored to eventually have.
