A viral trend has placed Amazon in the hot seat over “Alexa” devices that show a clear bias toward Kamala Harris and against Donald Trump. Netizens did a “challenge” by recording themselves asking the voice-activated, artificial intelligence-style device about both Presidential candidates. Alexa refused to give any information on Donald Trump, saying it stays out of political matters.
Several videos of the same challenge show Alexa providing plenty of information about Harris, including why one should vote for her. Amazon confirms that this was happening with their Alexa devices and was an “error” that has since been fixed. Such bias in the Big Tech world is nothing new. This type of thing is so common that people are much less trusting of these “smart” devices than they were in the past.
