California’s $20 Minimum Wage Hike Has Already Caused Outrageous Price Increases

California’s $20 minimum wage hike for certain fast food locations has already caused outrageous price increases. The law was met with immediate pushback by local business owners and operators who predicted the price for goods and services would have to increase to cover the new price for labor. The wage hike from $16 to $20 represents an overnight 25% jump in labor costs for minimum-wage workers. As a result, some restaurants have increased costs of food by up to four dollars per item.
