Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson blamed “right-wing extremists” for sowing seeds of discord in the city which has contributed to complications of the migrant crisis. The Mayor made this statement during a 22-minute press conference. He also quoted Beyonce and said “you can’t break our soul” in a strange, applause-gathering moment. The press conference was held to announce a new strategy for housing migrants. The city has raised $350,000 from private funding to fund churches that will house so-called “asylum seekers.” This is an important strategy due to the ongoing busloads of migrants pouring into the city just before the famously brutal winter season. There was not a plan announced for existing homeless residents of the Windy City, though.
