Bob Menendez, the Democratic Senator from New Jersey, has been hit with bribery charges alongside his wife Nadine Arslanian Menendez. They both pleaded not guilty and have been released on bond. Interestingly enough, Senator Menendez was given a $100,000 bond while his wife was given a $250,000 bond. The husband/wife duo are accused of pocketing bribe money from officials in the Egyptian Government to perform myriad tasks from securing an exclusive halal meat contract to giving an inside look into an Egyptian Embassy. Senator Menendez faced similar charges back in 2017 and the result of that trial was a hung jury.
