Direct deposits at several big banks across the United States failed to post on Friday, November 3rd. Paycheck direct deposits are credited to bank accounts through a system called Automated Clearing House or ACH. There was a human error with this system that caused widespread outages on Friday. This, obviously, is the worst possible day for such a thing to happen because it is when most working people get paid. Spokespersons for these banks are referring to this as a “delay.” This “delay” does not necessarily have a specific date and time that it will be resolved. It is not known how many people are still waiting for their bank account balances to be updated.
