Atlanta-based music mogul Jermaine Dupri asked a question about Vice President Kamala Harris that many on the left won’t be able to answer. And it was a simple question: Why can’t Kamala Harris enact the policies and promises she has been campaigning for right now? After all, she is in office as the Vice President. This is a common-sense question, and many people on the right and left are wondering the same thing. Leftists who will stump for Kamala no matter what, like Roland Martin, quickly came to the Vice President’s defense after Jermaine Dupri posted the video in question. Martin stated that Dupri should have called him before posting “stuff like this.”
Other leftist commenters simply ridiculed Dupri without answering the question. However, some Kamala defenders attempted to give Jermaine Dupri some answers. They stated that Kamala can only do so much as the Vice President. Kamala herself told him that her “hands are tied,” which is most likely a reference to the division of power and her particular role in Government not being as powerful as the actual President.
These excuses don’t make much sense. Kamala, the Vice President, is just a few steps away from the Oval Office in the White House. She is second in line of secession. So, if something was to happen to Biden, she would instantly become the President. Surely, she has a voice and can make some things happen. And if her hands are tied due to checks and balances and division of power, then the same dynamic will persist if she becomes President.
