Mainstream Media Pushes False Narrative About Trump Banning Black History Month

Mainstream media has put out misleading headlines about Trump “cancelling” Black History Month. This has led to widespread outrage, both online and off, toward the administration over allegations of racism. News outlets are reporting on a leaked memo from the Defense Intelligence Agency. The reporting on this memo has been shaky at best. There is quite a pit of cherry-picking and intentional exclusion of facts to remove context in the furtherance of a narrative.

The memo in question states that the DIA will not hold workplace observances for any special interest group day or holiday, including but not limited to Pride Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, and Juneteenth. The media only wants to report on MLK Day, Juneteenth, and Black History month. And they do not emphasize that this does not mean that official observances will be banned in general. The purpose of the DIA memo is to get rid of all workplace celebrations based on special interest groups to create more unity around the mission.
