NFL player Ricky Pearsall was shot and nearly killed after an attempted robbery in San Francisco, California. Pearsall is a rookie receiver for the San Francisco 49ers. He was shot in the chest during the robbery and is expected to make a full recovery. Pearsall’s mother says the bullet entered his chest and exited his back, missing all vital organs. The robbery attempt occurred in broad daylight at around 3:30 in the afternoon.
Pearsall had been signing autographs earlier in the day and headed toward Union Square afterward. The suspect has been arrested. He is a 17-year-old male from Tracy, California. There is no evidence that Pearsall was targeted due to being an NFL player, although that is possible. The San Francisco Bay Area has been a hotbed of crime, drugs, and violence for many years now. This is just the latest example of a high-profile person being targeted for robbery and/or outright killed recently.
