Gold Star Families criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for rebuking President Donald Trump’s visit to Arlington National Cemetery. Harris, through a post on Twitter, characterized his visit as a political photo opportunity. She did not, however, answer any questions or make any verbal statements about the issue. Video was captured of Harris hurrying from a vehicle to a plane on the tarmac with wired headphones in her ear, as an unmistakable signal that she wants to avoid questions.
Trump was invited by the families of 13 US service members who were slain during the botched Afghanistan withdrawal. Trump’s campaign took pictures at the gravesites of fallen soldiers with their families. This caused conflict due to politicians like Kamala Harris saying that this was an inappropriate thing to do at the cemetery. Others say that such a thing violated federal law. Several family members who were present during the so-called “photo op” recorded videos responding to Kamala… and many of them were visibly upset.
