NPR CEO Katherine Maher Grilled During House Oversight Committee Hearing

Katherine Maher, the CEO Of National Public Radio (NPR) was grilled by Congressmen during a House Oversight Committee hearing. Notable members of Government who asked Maher questions include Marjorie Taylor-Greene (R-Georgia) and James Comer (R-Kentucky). House Republicans have an issue with NPR existing as an obviously left-leaning and biased outlet which receives federal funding.

It is not an issue of free speech as independent outlets do not face this sort of criticism. Left-wing outlets are criticized for their content, but not necessarily for the way that their content is produced. If NPR wants to continue on as a left-leaning outlet, then they should do so without federal monies. The way they present themselves now is as state-sponsored media, no different than foreign adversary countries who the United States criticize for having no freedom of speech.
