Oprah Winfrey has denied allegations of being paid $1 million by Kamala Harris’s campaign for a town hall in Michigan. She took it a step further upon being asked the question by a TMZ paparazzo by saying she has never been paid by her campaign. This is probably an honest answer if honesty is being judged by answering the specific question. The spirit of the question is to inquire about financial ties between Oprah and Kamala’s campaign. A more… transparent answer would be that although Oprah did not got a check directly to her personal pocket, her production company most certainly did. According to public FEC data, Kamala’s campaign gave Harpo Productions INC exactly $1,000,000. The FEC data is compiled due to laws that require campaigns to be transparent with their donors and expenditures.
