WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) has filed an amended financial disclosure form that dramatically reduces the reported value of her and her husband’s assets from as much as $30 million to between $18,004 and $95,000, attributing the change to a major accounting error.
The original disclosure, filed in May 2025 for calendar year 2024, showed a sharp increase in household assets — primarily tied to her husband Tim Mynett’s partial ownership stakes in eStCru LLC (a winery-related venture) and Rose Lake Capital LLC (a venture capital firm). Those valuations had jumped from roughly $40,000–$250,000 in the prior year’s filing, prompting questions from Republicans and renewed scrutiny of Omar’s finances amid broader investigations into Minnesota welfare fraud.
In the amended filing reviewed by The Wall Street Journal, the couple’s net assets now reflect liabilities that largely offset the business valuations, resulting in the far lower range. Omar’s office described the revision as a voluntary correction made “as soon as the discrepancy was identified.” Spokesperson Jacklyn Rogers stated: “The amended disclosure confirms what we’ve said all along: The congresswoman is not a millionaire.”
The congresswoman’s team blamed the initial overstatement on an error by her husband’s accountant in valuing the businesses and accounting for associated liabilities. The amended report also lists 2024 income from those assets between $102,503 and $1,005,200.
The episode has drawn fresh criticism from Republicans, including calls for further review, though Omar’s office maintains the correction resolves any discrepancy and reaffirms her non-millionaire status. Financial disclosures for members of Congress use broad valuation ranges and are not required to reflect precise net worth.
Omar, a member of the progressive “Squad,” has faced ongoing political and ethical questions during her time in Congress, but her office insists the amended filing sets the record straight.
