San Diego Enacts “Super Sanctuary” City Policy, Protecting Criminal Aliens

San Diego has voted to enact a “super sanctuary” city law that will protect criminal migrants. Sanctuary cities and states have policy that prevents local law enforcement from cooperating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The idea behind this policy is to protect “residents” of a place from being deported. San Diego’s new “super sanctuary” city ordinance will protect illegal aliens accused of sexual assault and kidnapping. Critics of the new policy say that this will simply protect gang members involved with human trafficking. Proponents, in a nearly uniform way, say that San Diego should not spend “county resources” on the issue of immigration. Meanwhile, San Diego spends $5 million annually on legal defense for illegal aliens.
