Several House GOP Republicans say their wives have received threatening phone calls over their vote for or against Jim Jordan. People have also directly texted wives on their cell phones. These texts and calls are often placed anonymously so it is difficult to pinpoint their origin. However, some say that the calls come from Washington and they place the blame on Jim Jordan and his allies.
All of this drama is centered around Jim Jordan being unable to attain the majority vote of 217 to become the next Speaker of the House. This is similar to what Kevin McCarthy was going through with 15 separate rounds of voting necessary to confirm him as speaker. However, unlike McCarthy, Jim Jordan does not seem to be anywhere near the goal or improving at all. Both rounds after the first received less than the previous.
