Mike Tyson has publicly confirmed that he delivered a letter from Sean “Diddy” Combs to President Donald Trump while Combs was serving a prison sentence.
In an October 8, 2026 appearance on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, the former heavyweight champion discussed his ongoing friendship with Combs, saying he is “friendly with Puff.” Tyson noted he had spoken with Combs once by phone from prison. “He wanted me to give a letter to the president,” Tyson said. When Cohen asked if he had followed through, Tyson replied, “I did what he told me to do, yeah.”
The comments align with earlier reporting. In January 2026, The Sun reported that Tyson had hand-delivered a letter from Combs to Trump during a White House visit, with sources describing it as a personal request for a presidential pardon. Trump later confirmed to The New York Times that he had received a handwritten letter from Combs seeking a pardon but indicated he would not grant clemency, citing Combs’ past public criticism of him.
Combs was convicted in July 2025 on two counts related to transportation for prostitution under the Mann Act (a 1910 federal law) and sentenced to 50 months. He was acquitted of racketeering conspiracy and sex-trafficking charges and has maintained his innocence while appealing. Tyson also commented on the case during the interview, expressing surprise that prosecutors used what he called a “110-year-old rule” to secure the convictions.
Tyson has not publicly detailed the letter’s exact contents, but the timing and context match the known pardon request. Combs remains incarcerated at FCI Fort Dix.
