NBA basketball player Ja Morant should be cut from the Memphis Grizzlies after yet another video has surfaced of him waving around a gun. He has shown a repeated pattern of behavior that displays his inability to follow simple rules of conduct. The Grizzlies have positioned Morant to be the face of their franchise. He is one of the most dynamic and exciting players currently in the league. However, his instability may be a bigger liability than his star power can overcome.
The Memphis Grizzlies have suspended him from all team activities. Since the team is not in the playoffs, they are officially in the offseason. So the suspension could carry into the 2023-2024 regular season with an as-of-yet-unknown number of games. This news comes about two months after Morant was suspended for 8 games for allegedly bringing a gun on a Grizzlies team flight to Denver and then showing it off inside a Denver strip club. Morant has a 5-year contract worth over $194 million, equating to about $38 million annually. Mostly all of that money is guaranteed.
