Two executives over at Twitter, and at least one other staffer, quit the company over the controversial “What Is A Woman” documentary movie. The movie is about transgender issues in the United States and the rest of the Western world. Leftist critics call the film a piece of anti-trans propaganda while many supporters say it is eye-opening. Twitter initially sided with the popular leftist opinion by heavily censoring it. It was not available to anyone who did not follow The Daily Wire on Twitter. It could not really be retweeted or shared. Twitter also refused to allow it any advertising boosting.
Elon Musk did not agree with this censorship which is what directly caused proverbial heads to roll. The most notable resignation was Twitter’s head of Trust and Safety, Ella Irwin. Her chief role was to moderate content on the platform. She is the person who probably made the executive decision to censor the film when Daily Wire first made it available on Twitter. Another former staffer held the position of assuring advertisers that Twitter is a safe place to market their brands.
The drama surrounding Twitter’s early censorship of “What Is A Woman” led to Elon Musk endorsing it and pinning it to his personal profile with the caption “every parent should watch this.” Leftist and mainstream media outlets are now attempting to label Elon Musk as some sort of homophobe for his stance on the film. Especially after his Town Hall on Twitter Spaces with Ron DeSantis. This is a faulty way to think, especially since Musk is a champion of free speech across the board. Musk will also give Democratic Presidential Candidate Robert F. Kennedy an interview on Twitter Spaces on Monday.
