The manager of Harvard’s Medical School morgue, Cedric Lodge, is accused of stealing human body parts and selling them online. Families routinely donate the bodies of their loved ones for scientific and educational purposes. These bodies are then known as “cadavers.” The morgue has the responsibility of cataloging and maintaining these cadavers. Lodge is accused of violating his role as manager of the morgue to make extra money on the side.
People from around the northeast United States and beyond were allegedly able to buy body parts such as faces and brains for small amounts of money through online transactions. Lodge and his wife, Denise, are accused of taking the body parts from the morgue to their home in Goffstown, New Hampshire. The couple would then send body parts through the mail to customers. Since the online transactions were done out in the open using payment processors like PayPal, the customers were easy to locate. This process went on for the better part of four years. Both Cedric and Denise Lodge are facing Federal charges for their alleged actions.
