Students at James Madison High School in New York City were kicked out for a day to make room for 2,000 migrants. This decision was made because the migrant camp at Floyd Bennet Field was having flooding issues after a storm. The migrants were allowed to commandeer the school from about 9pm Tuesday night to 4am Wednesday morning. At the last minute, a notice was sent to parents that students would need to engage in remote learning on Wednesday. This is most likely because the migrants left behind enough of a mess that would take longer than a couple of hours to clean up. Parents were understandably outraged because their taxpayer money was going to fund a school that they were not permitted to use for a day due to migrants.
