77-year-old American lawyer and professor Kenneth Darlington shot and killed two protesters on the Pan-American highway in Panama. The protesters were there to make a statement against a mining contract that was allegedly rife with corruption. Part of their protest was to erect a barricade on the world-famous Pan-American highway. This, of course, caused a monstrous traffic jam for miles. Kenneth Darlington, who has dual citizenship in Panama and the United States, decided to spring into action. He first attempted to simply remove some of the blockade. Then, when he apparently got a little impatient, he casually pulled out a gun from his pocket. After some back and forth with the protesters, Darlington wound up shooting two of the protesters at nearly point-blank range. He was immediately arrested by local authorities without resistance.
