The Australian breakdancer who went viral for her hilariously bad routine at the 2024 Paris Olympics has finally spoken out. Rachael Gunn, nicknamed “RayGun,” recorded a short video addressing the massive backlash from her breakdancing routine at the Summer Olympics. She appeared a little nervous and overwhelmed by how much attention she received. During her short video, she mentioned that her friends and family should be left alone.
Gunn said she intended to bring joy to people’s lives worldwide and is serious about her craft. Others would beg to differ and saw her poor performance as a joke and a slap in the face to breakdancing. One of Australia’s Olympic team members, Anna Mears, defended RayGun, saying she is the best Australia had to offer regarding female breakdancers. Mears also alluded to sexism being the driving force behind the negativity against Gunn.
