Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced that the Biden Administration has created a “Disinformation Governance Board”. The board, which is part of DHS, was created with the expressed purpose to fight against “online misinformation” ahead of the 2022 midterms. Conservatives immediately pounced on this news as the real-life incarnation of “The Ministry Of Truth” from the George Orwell novel “1984”. That particular ministry, also known as “Minitrue”, had a similar purpose as the new Biden administration board. And the way the ministry achieved its goal was through widespread propaganda and censorship of unfavorable information.
This type of thing is already happening in the United States with the implementation of another Orwellian ideal called “newspeak”. Words are constantly deemed as insensitive slurs that should be purged from society. And these words are replaced with “new” words that are more “appropriate”. The end result of newspeak is a diminished vocabulary with words that fit the desired narrative of the Government. The end goal of all of this is more Government control of all people in society. It is Communism on steroids.
