Former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and his wife Chirlane McCray are getting separated but will not divorce. They have been married for 30 years and together for 32. They have adult children so there won’t be any need for custody separation. The home they share will not be divided and they will still cohabitate. The purpose of the announced separation without divorce appears to get ahead of any news media rumors when either Bill or his wife are seen out on the town with other people.
There is, of course, one pesky detail about Chirlane McCray that won’t be answered by the separation story. Bill de Blasio handed over the reins of “ThriveNYC” to Chirlane. ThriveNYC was a mental health program designed to help New Yorkers. One billion dollars was set aside for the program and there is no true accounting that shows how and where the money was spent. This has been an ongoing story for years that McCray, de Blasio, nor anyone else in New York City has an answer for.
