BLM Co-Founder’s Cousin Dies In Los Angeles Police Department Custody

Patrisse Cullors, a co-founder of BLM, says that her cousin Keenan Anderson was killed by the Los Angeles Police Department. Anderson was approached by police on suspicion of DUI after an accident. Body cameras released by the department show an officer attempting to get Anderson to sit down and relax for a while.

Anderson appeared antsy and unable to sit still, probably high on drugs. He eventually refused to sit down and sort of jogged off into traffic. At this point, other officers show up on the scene to help subdue him. A Taser was deployed and used due to Anderson consistently resisting the cuffing process. Police eventually got him handcuffed and into an ambulance. About 4 and a half hours later, Anderson suffered a medical emergency in the hospital, while still in LAPD custody, and died.
