Chicago Raises Taxes By $300 Million Amid Historic Migrant Crisis

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson announced that the city will raise property taxes by $300 million in an effort to close the city’s $1 billion budget shortfall. The announcement comes during an unprecedented influx of migrants flooding the streets of the Windy City. There have been countless city council meetings filled with outraged residents who complain about the onslaught of people from all over the world, especially Venezuela.

Gang members from Venezuela have taken over blocks and apartment complexes in neighborhoods where concerned Chicago citizens live. Johnson stated that he could have engaged in mass layoffs or cut funding for city services, but instead, he opted to “tax the rich.” It is unclear how long the so-called “rich” will stay in town after they are hit with an astronomical property tax bill, which will compound the nationwide inflation problem to an astronomical degree.
