CNN’s Brian Stelter recently spoke out against the rise of alternative news sources on social media. He made the comments during an episode of “Inside Politics” on CNN with host Dana Bash. Stelter’s comments are not unique to voices on CNN. He is essentially echoing what the majority of mainstream media and leftist politicians think.
Mainstream news sources resent the fact that sometimes-anonymous and “unvetted” users on places like X (formerly Twitter) are often taken more seriously than legacy media sources like CNN. This is a problem that mainstream media created for themselves. There are countless examples of CNN and other old-school news networks fabricating stories out of the clear blue sky. The public’s trust in mainstream sources is so broken that it may be beyond repair, which is why alternative online media sources are surging in popularity.
