CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — Dalton Eatherly, the 28-year-old race-baiting livestreamer known online as “Chud the Builder,” was arrested and charged with attempted murder following a shooting outside the Montgomery County Courthouse on Wednesday afternoon.
According to authorities, Eatherly became involved in a physical confrontation with another man, identified in some reports as 31-year-old Joshua Fox, around 1:15–1:20 p.m. in Millennium Plaza near the courthouse. The altercation escalated into gunfire. Eatherly sustained a graze wound to his arm, while the other man was struck in the shoulder and stomach. Both were hospitalized in stable condition.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office charged Eatherly with criminal attempted murder, employing a firearm during a dangerous felony, aggravated assault, and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon. He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail and is being held without bond pending further proceedings.
Eatherly, whose content frequently involves approaching strangers—particularly Black individuals—in public and using racially derogatory language, has built a following through provocative “rage-bait” livestreams. He has claimed self-defense in the shooting, stating he was punched first, though the investigation continues.
The incident comes just days after Eatherly’s arrest in Nashville on May 10, where he faced charges of disorderly conduct, theft, and resisting arrest following a dispute at a restaurant during a livestream.
The Tennessee District Attorney General’s Office confirmed the charges and said the case remains under active investigation. No additional details about the circumstances leading to the confrontation—reportedly tied to a civil debt hearing—have been released by authorities.
Eatherly’s arrest has sparked widespread discussion online, with supporters citing self-defense and critics pointing to his history of inflammatory public behavior as a contributing factor.
