Disney has sued Florida Governor Ron DeSantis over what they describe as a “targeted campaign of government retaliation” against the company. This comes after at least one full year of back-and-forth between DeSantis and Disney that started with Disney’s objection to the Parental Rights In Education Bill, also known as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. Former Disney CEO Bob Chapek publicly spoke out against the bill. This caused Florida, prompted by DeSantis, to remove Disney’s special tax-exempt status. This feud has escalated to Disney also losing the right to govern land adjacent to their property. DeSantis appeared on television and said that the land could be converted into a state park or even a state prison.
