Former NBA Player Suggests MVP Voting Process Is Racist

Former NBA player Kendrick Perkins is in a bit of hot water over comments he made in which he suggested that the NBA MVP voting process is racist. His comments centered around Denver Nuggets big man Nikola Jokic. The seven-foot superstar is white and originally from Serbia. Perkins brought up an interesting statistic to prove his point. He said that since 1990, only three players have won the illustrious award without being in the NBA’s top 10 scoring list. Those players are Jokic, Steve Nash, and Dirk Nowitzki… all of whom are white. Perkins insinuated that the only reason Jokic is in the running for his third consecutive MVP award is that he is white.
