GOP Presidential Candidate Larry Elder made an appearance on “The Breakfast Club” radio show. Elder is a black male conservative, an anomaly that the left-leaning Breakfast Club often has an issue with. This hour-long interview was no different.
Almost immediately, one of the hosts “Charlamagne Da God” peppered Elder with questions centered around race and why he doesn’t criticize whites the way he does blacks. Elder responded with simple facts and figures about people in America, pointing out that there is a problem with black America that he would like to help resolve. The other hosts, DJ Envy and the remote-attending Tezlyn Figaro both had similar left-leaning points of view. They did not truly listen to Elder with an open mind.
This is part of the reason why GOP candidates do not spend much time dealing with urban media. Because the hosts typically represent the audience of the show. In this case, the hosts were openly dismissive and somewhat hostile against the conservative political candidate. It is admirable, however, for Larry Elder to show up to The Breakfast Club to express his viewpoints.
Maybe there are a handful of people (or more) watching and/or listening to the show who may turn their political points of view around as a result of listening to Elder.
