Three editors from the Los Angeles Times and one editor from the Washington Post have resigned after both papers refused to endorse a presidential candidate. Although the LA Times and WAPO did not endorse Trump, the lack of endorsement for Kamala might have been a bridge too far for some newspaper industry veterans. Talking head journalists and social media left-wingers all responded in unison with disappointment and vitriol. There were several plays on the Washington Post’s tagline, “Democracy Dies In Darkness,” such as “Democracy dies at the Washington Post.”
Much of the anger is directed at the owners of both papers, who ultimately made the final call. Jeff Bezos owns WAPO, Amazon, and other properties. Some early think pieces about the lack of mainstream media support for Kamala refer to Bezos as an “autocrat.” Much of the communist-centered language that mainstream leftists rely on is obviously not working when they thought they would need it the most.
