The group called Campus Reform ventured into the streets of Washington D.C. to film reactions to their fake petition seeking to cancel Memorial Day. The premise was that the holiday promotes U.S. imperialism and should be removed from its status as a Federal Holiday. The Campus Reform reporter/host asked questions to what appears to be random strangers about this. The answers ranged from well-informed but completely far left to completely uninformed and unopinionated. There were very few, if any, responses that represented a conservative mindset.
The purpose of Memorial Day is to remember fallen soldiers. Meaning, those who died while serving the country. This is different than Veteran’s Day or Armed Forces Day which is to celebrate people who are currently serving and/or those who are living that have served. According to quite a few people on the woke streets of Washington D.C., Memorial Day either should not exist or should not be represented on a Federal level due to (top response) “imperialism” and things of that nature.
Take a look at the video below to see and hear some of the answers to the issue of “should Memorial Day be cancelled” for yourself.
