Marjorie Taylor Greene Exposed Republicans Refusing To Vote McCarthy As Next Speaker

Georgia House Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene exposed Republicans who are refusing to vote for Kevin McCarthy as the next Speaker of the House. Her overall point is that these people care more about themselves than their constituents. To be more exact, she exposed fellow Freedom Caucus members, such as Matt Gaetz, for using their votes as leverage to negotiate better personal deals. She also took umbrage with her colleagues that negotiated selfishly while not including her name in any talks for committees.

This is yet another source of drama in the ongoing internal GOP battle to nominate the next Speaker. McCarthy has the overwhelming majority of GOP votes, around 200 of 219. GOP holdouts are preventing McCarthy from being confirmed, preventing any representative-elects from being confirmed, or any other House work from commencing. There will be more rounds of voting until a Speaker is selected. Holdouts have voted for Jim Jordan and other random House Reps. This is seen more as a protest of Kevin McCarthy and (maybe) his policies rather than an earnest attempt to select Jim Jordan as the next Speaker.
