British commentator Milo Yiannopoulos has been deported from the United States to the United Kingdom after overstaying his visa.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested the 41-year-old at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport on August 27, 2026. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said he was deported the following day.
Yiannopoulos, a former Breitbart News editor and early Donald Trump supporter who later worked with rapper Ye (formerly Kanye West), legally entered the country on May 14, 2019, through New York City. DHS said he “chose to overstay his welcome in violation of our nation’s laws.” An immigration judge issued a final order of removal on July 22 after he failed to appear at a hearing.
DHS described him as “an illegal alien from the United Kingdom” and publicized the arrest, including a mugshot. Officials also said the administration had ended a prior policy that allowed people in the country illegally to fly domestically except when departing to self-deport.
The case drew attention because Yiannopoulos had long advocated aggressive immigration enforcement. In 2025 he called for deporting “millions and millions of people” and for ICE checkpoints at supermarkets, gas stations, and other public places, with “on the spot deportation for anyone who can’t prove they are in the US legally.” He had also praised ICE operations.
Yiannopoulos, who grew up in Kent, England, built a public profile as a provocative conservative commentator known for sharp criticism of feminism, Islam, and immigration. Reports indicated he was in New Orleans around the time of a Ye concert. Far-right activist Laura Loomer, with whom he had feuded, claimed she had previously flagged his immigration status to authorities.
Yiannopoulos and his representatives did not immediately comment publicly after the deportation.
